Mike Doughty At The Granada Theater

I Apologize In Advance For The Picture Quality. I Took Them All With My Cel Phone Because I Still Can’t Find My Camera After Our Recent Move.

On The Evening Of Friday April The 18th, The Out Of Square Crew Took The Short Trip To Dallas’ Lower Greenville District To Check Out Mike Doughty’s Band At The Historic Granada Theater.

After A Very Strange, Very Bearded Sound Check By Members Of Mike Doughty’s Band A Band Called The Panderers, Who Mike Produced On His Snack Bar Records Label, Opened. They Were Very Good. They Had A Kinda Bluesy, Folky, Rocky, Kinda Sound. They Are Definitely Worth Checking Out If You’re Into Doughty. Actually, Two Members Of Doughty’s Band Are Part Of The Trio; Andrew “Scrap” Livingston On Bass And Pete McNeil On Drums.

Mike Doughty’s Band Opened With I Just Want The Girl In The Blue Dress To Keep On Dancing Followed By I Wrote A Song About Your Car, St. Louise Is Listening, And Busting Up A Starbucks.

Then We Moved Right Along To Tremendous Brunettes, Soft Serve, Ft. Hood, I Can Hear The Bells, Unsingable Name…

More Bacon Than The Pan Can Handle, Circles, Put It Down, Ossining, …

And An Excellent Rendition Of Kenny Rogers’ The Gambler.

The Encore Was Amazing. They Played 27 Jennifers And Closed With Looking At The World From The Bottom Of A Well.

I Picked Up The Rockity Roll/Skittish Double Disc At The Show Along With A Couple Of Buttons. I Would Have Probably Got A Shirt If They Would Have Had A XXL, But Unfortunately For Them…And Me…They Did Not.

We Ended The Night Across The Street At Big D’s Dogs. I Had A Don And Greenville Fries. It Was A Very Good Thing To Pile On Top Of A Couple Of Budweisers And A Night Of Live Music.

We Walked Back Over To Get The Car And Ran Into Scrap, The Bass Player For The Panderers And Mike Doughty’s Band In The Parking Lot. We Said Hello And Told Him How Much We Had Enjoyed The Show…And Then I Asked Him To Dish Out The Sausage, Which Was Awesome! If You Don’t Know About This, Go To YouTube And Do A Search For “Mike Doughty Gets A Tattoo”

That Was The Best Show I Have Been To In A Long Time And Probably One Of My All Time Favorites…
